A few weeks ago our grandsons, Dalton (10) and Davin (8) spent the night with us. The evening was fun and uneventful until 1:30 AM! Mike woke up and saw the light was on in the boys bedroom. He got up and found Davin sitting on his bed looking quite worried. Mike asked what was wrong. Davin responded, "Dalton is missing. I think he's been killed!" He pointed to the bed where Dalton had been sleeping and there were 5-6 drops of blood on the sheet but no Dalton. Mike checked out the living room then headed down the stairs to look in the family room located in the basement. He opened the door and it was pitch black. Mike didn't turn on the light or go on down into the basement as he was pretty sure Dalton would not be in the dark room. That's when I heard, "Claudia, Dalton is missing!" Well that woke me up with a start. I jumped out of bed and met Mike and Davin in the boys' bedroom. I hear the story from Davin then Mike. By now I am wide awake! I start downstairs to re-search the other levels when I ran into Dalton as he came around the corner into the living room. He told us he had gotten up because he had nosebleed. (He has them on occasion.) He could feel it bleeding so he went into the bathroom and cleaned up his face once he got the bleeding stopped. He knew he had gotten blood in his bed but he didn't know how much. He decided he didn't want to climb back into the bloody bed. (Could you blame him?) Dalton said he went down to the family room to watch a little TV. (Without any light?) Later Dalton told us he was watching TV when he heard footsteps in the living room and on the steps. He thought it was a intruder so he turned off the lights/TV and found a place to hide! Since Mike didn't say anything when he opened the door, Dalton said he was so scare and he couldn't find anything to use as a weapon! Once we were all accounted for, our early morning adventure was pretty funny to all of us! We explained to the boys that they should come get us for help. Davin said he's probably wake up Grandpa because I sleep too sound!
I've included a picture of the boys. This was taken on another adventure and perhaps I'll tell you about it another time. If we're not careful we may be required to have supervised visits with the grandkids!
